Have you heard about this? I’ve applied for The Best Job in the World, which according to the website consists of blogging about, creating videos, and taking pictures of the Great Barrier Reef Islands off the coast of Australia. If I won, Tourism Queensland would provide me with housing, money, equipment, and airfare.
All I had to do was send in a one minute video application (à la Elle Woods in Legally Blonde), explaining why I would be the best person for the job. The most important criteria was to make the video as entertaining as possible, and I hope I succeeded. Around 30,000 people have applied for the position, so it’s gonna be a tough race, but one I hope you’ll help me win.
Please click on this image and watch my video! It’s probably going to take a long time to play, so just minimize it and let it load. Unfortunately, their site wasn’t built with the anticipation that 34,000 people would be interested in the job, so most videos take a long time to load.
Also, please let me know what you thought of it! Do you think this video merits me a position working as Island Caretaker in The Best Job in the World? If you like it, rate it 5 stars, and help me win!

Yep, that’s Rahm Emanuel. Doesn’t he look defiant? Nadav Kander photographed 52 people from Obama’s team for the New York Times, one at a time, in a small white photobooth. This is a great way to get to know Obama’s team of people. They are all very intimate portaits. Each person was asked to bring something that would tell a little more about themselves. It’s interesting to see what some of them brought to the shoot. I’m still trying to figure out what Rahm brought. It seems he actually forgot to bring something to the shoot, and by something I mean his wooden finger.

20,000 children were born from rapes commited in the Rwandan genocide. I saw this video at a worskhop yesterday, and I thought you guys would be interested. What happens when thousands of raped Tutsi women give birth to children that are the fruit of that rape? This video shows what it’s like for these women to raise children borne from genocide.

I shot this video in the outskirts of Bogota, Colombia last summer for a non profit organization called “Un Techo Para Mi Pais.” Their goal is to eliminate homelessness in Latin America and the Caribbean by building temporary homes. In a few months they’re set to go to Haiti, where they hope to help rebuild the country one “techo” at a time.
